NOTICE: The age of any entry is determined by the first day of conformation judging, not necessarily the day that the dog is exhibited. For this show, that date is October 16, 2002.

NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING SINGLE DOG ENTRIES
Veteran Classes - A Class for Dogs and Class for Bitches six (6) years and under eight (8) years.
Veteran Classes - A Class for Dogs and Class for Bitches eight (8) years and older.

BEST OF BREED COMPETITION

The following categories of dogs may be entered & shown in Best of Breed Competition. Dogs that are Champions of Record. Dogs that according to the owner's records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The entry and showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where a dog completed the championship according to the owner's record. If, at the end of the 90-day period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by the American Kennel Club, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed competition are to be made until the championship has been confirmed by the AKC.

NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING MULTIPLE DOG ENTRIES

Stud Dog Class - Will be for Stud Dogs and two of their Get but not more than four of their get. Stud Dogs must be entered in the Stud Dog Class and must be shown in the ring with their Get. Owner of Stud Dog need not necessarily be owner of the Get. Get only to be judged, based on the merits of the Get. While the merits of the Stud Dog are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy, or the standard for its breed. Get must be entered in a Regular Class, Best of Breed Competition, or some other Non-Regular Class.

Brood Bitch Class - Same as the Stud Dog Class except substitute Brood Bitch for Stud Dog and Produce for Get.

Brace Class -The dogs comprising a Brace MUST be named at the time of entry (Two, identical ownership and will require $20.00 entry fee for the Brace as a Unit.). If a dog which is to be part of a Brace is not entered in another class, it must be entered for "Brace Class Only", fee is $10.00 per dog. In making entries for "Brace Class Only" full particulars must be given for each dog on individual regular entry forms. An entry form for a dog entered in another class and entered as part of a Brace MUST be marked accordingly in the space provided for Additional Classes, "Brace Class". If more than one Brace is entered by the same owner, the dogs comprising EACH Brace must be so designated "Brace No. 1, Brace No. 2", etc.

Team Class - (Four, identical ownership). The dogs comprising a Team must be named at the time of entry and the Team Class noted in the space provided for Additional classes. All dogs entered in Team Class do not have to be entered in a Regular class. There will be a $25.00 fee as a unit. If more than one Team is entered by the same owner, the dogs comprising each team must be so designated, "Team No. 1," "Team No. 2," etc.

Parade of Champions, Titleholders and Veterans - All Champions of Record, Obedience and Agility titleholders and Great Danes that are at least six (6) years old on the date the show opens are eligible to enter the Parade. Please note "Parade on the regular entry form under "Additional Classes". This is a non-competitive parade. Each Great Dane entered in the parade will receive a Rosette imprinted with the Dog's name. Parades will be conducted as one parade in order of age, from youngest to oldest. All titles will be announced.

Awards of Merit: The Award of Merit, a perpetual recognition of the highest qualities in our breed, is a two inch thick 7" X 14" Polished Acrylic Pyramid. Embedded in its center is a distinctive logo unifying Leonardo DaVinci's historic study of perfect human proportions and the revered Great Dane standard. It is symbolic of the harmony and bond between the Great Dane fancier and his beloved breed. This trophy will be presented annually to Award of Merit winners. Awards of Merit will be offered up to a maximum of 10% of the entry in the Best of Breed Class. (As Best of Breed & Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed are the highest awards, Awards of Merit will not be given to those winning Best of Breed & Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, but to other worthy dogs entered in the Best of Breed Class).

JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION

NOVICE JUNIOR CLASS - For Boys and Girls at least 10 and under 14 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have not won three first places in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.

NOVICE SENIOR CLASS - For Boys and Girls at least 14 and under 18 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have not won three first places in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.

OPEN JUNIOR CLASS - For boys and Girls at least 10 and under 14 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have won three first places in a Novice Junior Showmanship Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present.

OPEN SENIOR CLASS - For Boys and Girls at least 14 and under 18 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have won three first places in a Novice Junior Showmanship Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present.

A Dark Green Qualifying Score Rosette will be given to each dog attaining a Qualifying Score.

Please Note: Refund of entry fees for bitches entered in Obedience that come in season after closing date of this show may be obtained by sending a veterinarian's certificate to the Show Superintendent. This certificate must be postmarked before the opening day of the show or given to the Show Superintendent before the start of the show.

Graduate Novice Class - This class shall be for dogs that have not been certified by a judge to have received a third qualifying score toward a CDX title prior to the closing of entries. Dogs entered in Graduate Novice may also be entered in one of the Novice or Open Classes.

Veterans Class - This class shall be for dogs that have an Obedience Title (AKC approved) and are six (6) years or older on the date of the show. The exercise shall be performed and judged as in the Novice Class. Dogs entered in the Veterans Class may be entered in any regular Obedience class.

Brace Class - The class shall be for two dogs that are eligible under these regulations and capable of performing the novice exercises. The dogs need not be owned by the same person but must be handled by one handler. Dogs may be shown unattached or coupled, the coupling device to be not less than six inches overall length; whatever method is used must be continued throughout all exercises. A separate official entry form must be completed in full for each dog entered. Exercises, performances, and judging shall be as in the Novice Class. The brace should work in unison at all times. Either or both dogs may be entered in another class or classes at the trial.

Obstacles
The mandatory obstacles and jumps shall be used for all classes as described in the AKC Regulations for Agility Trials. Other jumps and hurdles can be used as described in the regulations. Weave Poles (in Open and Excellent Standard Classes, and all Jumper Classes). These obstacles will NOT be used: Crawl Tunnel, Sway Bridge, Window Jump. All jumps are capable of being displaced.

Course Familiarization and Warm-ups Handlers in all classes are permitted to walk the course, without a dog prior to the start of the class. The walk-through allows handlers to plan their strategy for running the course. A walk-through period will be held prior to each class, following the judge's briefing. Novice A & B dogs and handlers only will be given a familiarization period prior to the start of judging during which they may perform each of the contact obstacles. Dogs may work on or off lead and will perform contact obstacles one at a time. Food, Training Devices and Toys are not permitted in the course area. A warm-up area consisting of a regulation agility jump shall be provided for all exhibitors. Exhibitors may not use the warm-up area to relieve their dogs.

Move-ups
Move-ups for Sunday must be in writing and must be delivered to the Trial Superintendent no later than Monday, October 7, 2002 at noon. Move-ups are allowed only if class size permits.

AGILITY NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS

PLEASE SUBMIT A PHOTO COPY OF THE ENTRANT'S OFFICIAL AKC JUMP HEIGHT CARD.
The safety of the dog is of primary concern. By entering this trial, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this sport, and that their dogs are familiar with and able to perform all obstacles safely.
Puppies under the age of six (6) months are strictly prohibited from the premises.
Entry fee will not be refunded in the event that the dog is absent, disqualified, excused, or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee.
It is expressly understood that the exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children.
Any exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create unnecessary disturbances or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the Show Committee, be asked to leave the show site. In such cases, no refund of any entry fees paid will be made.
No entry fee will be refunded if the trial cannot open or be completed by reason of civil disturbances, fire, an act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, or any other cause beyond the control of the organizing committee.
All dogs must be on a leash at all times except when in the ring or when in the designated agility warm-up area.
Exhibitors are responsible for being at the ring gate when it is their turn to run. Obstacles shall meet the specifications for obstacles in the current edition of "Regulations for Agility Trials".

DOGS ELIGIBLE TO ENTER

This trial is open to all Great Danes over the age 12 months that are registered with the American Kennel Club or that have obtained AKC/ILP numbers, except bitches in season, aggressive dogs or dogs suffering f rom any deformity, injury, or illness which may affect the dog's physical or mental performance. Spayed bitches and neutered males are eligible to participate. Dogs with an acceptable foreign registration number are eligible to participate subject to Chapter 11, Section 1 of the Dog Show Rules.

EXHIBITOR INFORMATION

At the handlers' option, dogs may wear flat buckle collars, but there shall be no hanging tags or attachments. Choke collars, head collars, pinch collars, electric and dummy electric collars are prohibited. Exhibitors may wear shirts or insignia of their training group if they wish. Food and toys are not permitted in the course area and handlers are not permitted to use whistles or other instruments or devices.

CLASS INFORMATION

Novice Agility & Novice Jumpers With Weaves Class - The Novice Agility class and the Novice Jumpers with Weaves Class are divided into Divisions A and B. Division A is for dogs that have never acquired any AKC Agility Title. A dog entered in Novice A must be handled by a person that has never put an AKC Agility Title on any dog, and the handler must be the Owner, Co-owner, or a member of the Owner's household. Handlers that co-own a dog and have never put an AKC Agility title on a dog may enter the Novice A Class regardless of the other co-owner's AKC Agility accomplishments. Division B is for dogs that have acquired the Novice Agility Title, or the Novice Jumpers With Weaves Title, or for persons who have handled a dog to any AKC Agility Title, and for dogs being handled by someone other than the Owner, Co-Owner, or household member subject to the restrictions listed above is divided into Division A for persons and dogs that have never acquired an agility title, and Division B for dogs that have acquired the Novice Agility title, persons that have handled a dog to an agility title, and for agility judges.

Open Agility Class - Open to dogs that have acquired the Novice Agility or Open Agility Title but which have not acquired the Agility Excellent title.

Open Jumpers With Weaves Class - Open to dogs that have acquired the Novice JWW title or Open JWW Title but which have not acquired a qualifying score toward a Excellent JWW title.

Agility Excellent "A" Class - Open to dogs that have acquired the Open Agility Title and to dogs that have acquired the Agility Excellent Title, but have not acquired a qualifying score toward their Master Excellent JWW Title.

Excellent Jumpers With Weaves "A" Class - Open to dogs that have acquired the Open JWW Title and dogs that have acquired the Excellent JWW Title, but have not acquired a qualifying score toward their Master Excellent JWW Title.

Master Agility Excellent "B" Class - Open only to dogs that acquired the Agility Excellent Title and to dogs that have acquired the Master Agility Excellent Title.

Master Excellent Jumper With Weaves "B" Class - Open only to dogs that have acquired the Excellent JWW Title and to dogs that have acquired the Master Excellent JWW Title.

Preferred Agility Classes

*These classes afford an opportunity for a greater variety of dogs, and their handlers to participate in the sport of Agility. Owners/Handlers have the choice of entering the preferred classes with its modified standards. The preferred classes are subject to all standards as listed in the regulations for Agility Trials, except as modified.

Eligibility

*The Preferred Classes are open to any dog eligible to enter an Agility Trial as defined in Chapter 1, Section 3. The same regulations apply for divisions "A" and "B" as those described for the regular titling classes.

*The owner may choose to enter the PSAC and PJWW class in lieu of entering the regular SAC and the regular JWW class at any trial. The dog must be entered only in Preferred Classes or in Regular Classes, with no cross-over between them being allowed at the same set of trials.

*Owners/dogs are allowed to switch back and forth between the Preferred Classes and the Regular Classes, but not a the same set of trials.

*Trophies and prizes will be awarded in the judging ring. All trophies and prizes must be claimed on the day of the show. None will be mailed.

*Exhibitors are admonished to make themselves familiar with the agreement of the American Kennel Club referred to on the reverse side of the entry blanks that accompany this premium list. Rule Books are available at the superintendent's table at the show or may be obtained from the American Kennel Club, 5580 Centerview Drive, Raleigh, NC 27606-3390.

*The club, its superintendents or their employees will not be responsible for the loss or damage to any dog exhibited whether the result of accident or other causes and in addition assumes no responsibility for any loss damage or injury sustained by an exhibitor or handler. It is distinctly understood that every dog at this show is in the care and custody and control of his owner or handler the entire time the dog is on the show premises.

*No grooming tables, pens or exhibitors' setups will be allowed in the aisles and all grooming must be done away from the judging ring in areas specified by the club. All crating/exercise pens will be at the discretion of the Grounds Committee. Dog owners will be responsible for clean-up. Dogs must be crated when left alone in hotel rooms. No dogs in hotel lobby or dining areas. All dogs present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged or in an ex-pen. No crates permitted in exhibit hall.

*Dog owners and/or handlers are responsible for any damage to hotel property caused by their dogs. This applies to the Drawbridge Inn & Convention Center, hotel property and all other hotels used for this specialty. Hotel personnel may enter a room when it is not occupied. They will report the condition of the room to the Hotel Liaison. A Show Committee may be convened as a result of any damage to hotel rooms, grounds or premises by hotel guests, owners, exhibitors or their dogs. The Show Committee can recommend suspension of all privileges of the American Kennel Club if person(s) are found guilty.

*There will be a $1.00 fee charged for cancellation of entry prior to closing of entries.

*There is no provision offered for unentered dogs at this show

*Do not leave any dogs in closed vehicles.

*The welfare of any child is the responsibility of its parent(s). It is expressly understood that parents will exercise control and restraint over their children throughout the event.

*Class Cash Prizes will be paid in the ring to the person showing the dog. Claims for prize money must be made in the ring before the judging of that breed is over, and the superintendent's Office advised at once. The Superintendents and show-giving club disclaim any liability for cash prizes after the judging of the breed is over.

*RETURNED CHECKS do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Superintendent will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check. Subsequent returned checks from the same exhibitors may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY basis.

*Pinch collars, electric and dummy electric collars are prohibited.

*Entry fee will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee.

*No entry fees will be refunded if the Show cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, an Act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, strikes or any other cause beyond the control of the Club or Superintendent.

*The show giving Club, the Superintendent, their agents employees, etc., assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, or to any of their dogs or property and further assumes no responsibility for injury to children.
