EVENT 2:
PAW & PEDAL RELAY RACE

The next event was a bike relay race...handlers on mountain bikes and dogs running along side. The track was a 2 mile loop, including a fairly deep water crossing, a nasty "sand" hill climb, and a really fun downhill to the finish.

This photo shows the Blue Team doing their pre-event dance ritual, which apparently worked because they won the event!

On the other side of the fence behind the Blue team, you can see the field where the start/finish line was. The downhill portion of the loop came down the hill back in the trees you can see behind and to the right of the field.

THE RACE

Ken took the first leg of the race and gave us a good 2nd place position. Then I took the second leg, where Morgan and I caught up to the Blue Team and took the lead through the water crossing. The Killer Sand Hill climb absorbed me like quick sand and Clyde and Rosie from the Blue Team took back their lead. I ended up still in 2nd place after my leg, and Mark and Tulee kept us there. Anna and Lazer from the Blue team were half way up the Killer Hill when Geoff and Buzz (our last leg) were nearing the water crossing, however they nearly caught Blue in the downhill, and we finished just seconds behind the Blues. So 2nd place again! :)
